Treatment Options For Executives
For the most part, executive drug treatment facilities are a type of residential rehab; in other words, individuals who enroll in this type of center will need to live on the premises for a given period (often 1-3 months). Most of the basic aspects of standard residential rehab can also be found at these centers: a team of health care professionals who monitor your progress and guide you through the process, individualized and group therapy, detoxification services if appropriate, and others. Still, certain professionals may require or prefer the environment and accommodations that are associated with an executive drug rehab center.
How do executive rehabs differ from other treatment options?
Please keep in mind that not all centers provide all of the amenities described below.
- Increased confidentiality measures – Because these facilities are accustomed to working with high-profile patients whose reputations may be detrimentally affected by unfortunate but real social stigmas related to alcoholism and drug addiction, many take additional precautions beyond those required by law to enable their patients remain anonymous.
- Business centers – If the physician and other members of the healthcare team determine that accommodating patients’ work schedules will not result in negative consequences for their long-term recovery, patients may be allowed to work or participate in conference calls remotely using the facility’s business center.
- Environment – Although many centers are located in beautiful areas of the country or the world (like in the mountains or on the coast), even those that aren’t attempt to recreate the comforts of home with beautiful, luxurious furnishings. Attention to detail may even include special accommodations for dietary needs and preferences.
- Greater personalization – Most residential programs recognize the individuality of each of their patients. Executive rehabs, however, are often staffed in such a way as to allow for substantial customization of a recovery program and more frequent evaluations of personal progress.
- Activities and amenities – Depending on the facility, you may be able to go golfing, work out regularly, participate in meditation or yoga classes, or enjoy a spa treatment. Activities and amenities vary significantly by facility and location, so if these interest you, be sure to ask in advance.
