A&E Intervention Shows and Tells

Technology permeates our everyday lives to the nth degree. We click here. Tweet this. Download that. We’re wired. Even to the point of addiction. It’s especially true for viewers of “Intervention,” an A & E television series, featuring drug and alcohol addicts on the road to substance-free redemption. On this show, interventions have gone viral, documentary style.
Click on the “Shows” button and all nine seasons of “Intervention” are available for streaming on your computer via the series’ website: www.aetv.com/intervention. Each compelling episode ends with a surprise intervention, orchestrated by family and friends of the addict, and managed by intervention specialists. The “Episode Guide” with 2-minute previews, helps web visitors choose which intervention to watch. Interventions provide a safe opportunity for loved ones to share with the addict, the consequences of their addictive behavior, and to present a plan for change and getting professional help.
An Intervention “Message Board” lets viewers share their reactions to the intervention and the issues addressed. Clicking on “Treatment” provides options for rehab and detox centers, sober and transitional living facilities, and therapists throughout the U.S. and Canada. Family and friends of addicts, unfamiliar with the sub-culture of substance abuse, can review “Drug Info” which lists drugs by chemical name, “street” names, and describes mental and physical effects on the user. The Intervention “Store” offers the convenience and privacy of online shopping for books and DVDs about recovery and addiction.
